Description

Autopsy is the premier open source digital forensics platform used by thousands of professional investigators around the world in such areas as law enforcement, legal technology, and cyber crime investigations. Autopsy delivers essential capabilities to conduct investigations of any type of digital media, including hard drives, flash memory, and mobile devices.

Autopsy has also become the most widely used training tool in university programs in digital forensics and cyber forensics. The plug-in architecture permits expansion modules written in Java or Python, to perform such tasks as analysis of specialized file formats or unusual data structures. Being open source enables complete inspection of the platform including expert examination for courtroom use.

This meeting of the Tokyo Autopsy User Group will focus on new features in the recently announced version 4.0. Carl Hoffman, CEO of Basis Technology, will repeat three talks from the 2015 Open Source Digital Forensics conference, including:

All presentations will be in English, with some interpretation into Japanese and some slides translated into Japanese. Dr. Brian Carrier, father of open source digital forensics, will join by video conference to answer questions.

Volunteers willing to help translate or interpret are welcome! Volunteers interested in helping to beta-test the Japanese version of Autopsy 4.0 are welcome! Please contact us!
